Pilar Domingo

Portrait of Pilar Domingo

Pilar Domingo is a Senior Research Fellow in ODI in the Politics and Governance Programme, leading work on rule of law, justice and human rights. With a Doctorate in Politics from the University in Oxford, she has over 25 years’ experience working as a researcher. Prior to joining ODI in 2009 she held academic posts in the UK, Mexico and Spain.

Pilar has published extensively on the following issues: the politics of rule of law and accountable governance; access to justice and legal empowerment; human rights; transitional justice; gender justice; women’s political empowerment; the Women, Peace and Security agenda; constitutional reform; democracy and inclusive governance. Recent research includes research on policy and practitioner responses to trafficking in persons and labour exploitation with a focus on the vulnerabilities, voice and agency of labour migrants. Pilar continues to work on Latin America, where she has focused primarily on Bolivia, Mexico and Colombia. Since joining ODI her comparative and country research now includes work on Sub-Saharan Africa and South East Asia.

Pilar’s has long-standing experience in leading research projects both for policy and practitioner audiences, including bi-lateral donor agencies and multi-lateral organisations donor, INGOs, as well as academic funding bodies.
