Ed joined ODI in February 2018. He previously worked as a researcher for the Developmental Leadership Program (DLP) and the University of Birmingham, and as a research consultant for a range of organisations.

Ed has over 10 years’ experience undertaking policy-oriented research, analysis, and evaluation, with a focus on fragile and conflict-affected settings. He has a particular interest in politically smart approaches to aid delivery, flexible and adaptive programming, and the political economy of peacebuilding and conflict resolution. Ed has designed and led research on these topics in Kenya, Tanzania, Nigeria, Mozambique, Somaliland, Ethiopia, DRC, Afghanistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Nepal.

Ed has a PHD in Politics from the University of York.
