<p>Lisa Denney is a Research Associate in the Politics and Governance Programme. She was previously a Research Fellow, having worked with ODI since November 2010. Her interests focus on the relationship between security and development, access to justice, post-conflict peacebuilding, and the need to better account for local governance practices. Lisa also has a background in using political economy analysis to inform donor programming</p>

Lisa has worked with the g7+ Group of Fragile States since 2011 and manages the Sierra Leone country programme of the Secure Livelihoods Research Consortium, examining capacity building in the nutrition sector. She also leads streams of research related to community policing and the politics of security and justice programming.

Lisa completed her PhD in International Politics at Aberystwyth University in 2010, with a thesis focusing on the challenges of engaging informal security and justice actors in DFID’s policing and justice reform programmes in Sierra Leone. She has undertaken research in Bangladesh, Cambodia, Ethiopia, Malawi, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Sri Lanka and Timor-Leste and is the author of Justice and Security Reform: Development Agencies and Informal Institutions in Sierra Leone, published with Routledge in 2014.cusing on high level politics and centralised states.
