Andhira Kara

Refugee advocate and researcher, R-SEAT

Andhira Kara is a refugee advocate and researcher, working with national and international organisations to improve the rights of migrants and displaced people. A refugee from Sudan, she now lives in Kenya and uses her experiences to advise and engage organisations and communities. Andhira is currently working with Refugees Seeking Equal Access at the Table (R-SEAT) and consults ODI on a project to improve the quantity and quality of funding to refugee-led organisations. Previously she worked as a scholars’ program coordinator at the Displaced and Refugee youth Enabling Environment Mechanism project), supporting partners in their inclusion of refugee youth in the scholars’ program. She collaborated on a research project by the Local Engagement Refugee Research Network (LERRN) and the Refugee Studies Centre (RSC), University of Oxford, examining the nature and impact of refugee-led organisations in East Africa and the Middle East. She holds an MSc in International Development from the University of Edinburgh.
