Complexity theory is emerging as a new way to understand the problems faced in development, and how to approach them. It allows us to embrace things previously seen as ‘messy realities’, emphasising interdependence, nonlinearity and coevolution. Taking on board this complexity perspective, how should we plan interventions, how can we monitor and evaluate them as they go along? More specifically, what does complexity mean for using Outcome Mapping?
