ODI’s Economic Pulse series collects and analyses information on Chinese economic activity relevant to developing countries. The series, which was set against the backdrop of the COVID-19 pandemic and the on-going recovery, identifies emerging policy signals as well as trade and investment trends fundamental to the socio-economic development planning of low- and middle-income countries.
This Emerging Analysis was originally published as a special focus chapter in the larger publication ‘Pulse 3: recover, reform, restructure: China’s outward investment appetite and implications for developing countries’. Numbers of headings, tables and figures, as well as the framing of the introduction, have been changed to reflect the publication of this chapter as a standalone document.
