Portrait of Mairi Dupar

Mairi is a Senior Technical Advisor in the Global Risks and Resilience Programme, with particular expertise in climate risk management and ecosystem-based adaptation to climate change.

She works with colleagues in Africa, South Asia and Latin America on enhancing and restoring ecosystem functions for nature and people, as part of a holistic approach to implementing the Paris Agreement on climate change. She has also written extensively on social inclusion, especially the rights of women and historically disadvantaged groups in climate policies and investments, and on climate change adaptation more broadly. Mairi has worked at ODI since 2010 as part of the Climate and Development Knowledge Network (CDKN), previously as head of knowledge management and now as senior technical advisor.

Mairi was seconded to the Ecosystems for Poverty Alleviation programme, www.espa.ac.uk in 2017-18, where she wrote the policy summary and produced documentary videos summarising the programme's nine years of research.

Mairi provides knowledge and technical support services for the Climate Ambition Support Alliance. CASA works to amplify the voice and influence and defend the interests of small island states and least developed countries in the international climate change negotiations. Since 2021, she has been involved in a major OECS Commission-backed initiative to enhance knowledge and skills for climate-resilient urban planning in the Eastern Caribbean.
