Harnessing the blue economy for African coastal states through the AfCFTA
Description
Africa's coastal regions have immense untapped potential in sectors like fisheries, aquaculture, maritime transport and energy. However, these blue economy industries face challenges that limit sustainable development and economic growth. The African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) presents an opportunity to address these challenges and strengthen the blue economy's contribution to Africa's economies.
The Supporting Investment and Trade in Africa Programme (SITA) is convening a virtual workshop to explore how the AfCFTA framework can support blue economic development for coastal states. Key stakeholders from governments, international organisations, and the private sector will discuss ongoing initiatives and identify policy priorities. The workshop aims to raise awareness of synergies between regional trade integration under the AfCFTA and a sustainable blue economy.
Register now to attend this timely discussion on harnessing Africa's blue economy potential through regional trade integration. Participation and insights from the event will inform ongoing work in this important area.
