Portrait of Dominik Balthasar

Dominik is a research associate with the Politics and Governance group. An Associate Professor and Academic Program Director (Development Management) at the Asian Institute of Management, his work centers on issues pertaining to peace, conflict, and fragility.

Spanning some fifteen years in research, policy, and practice, Dominik has, most recently, been employed with KfW Development Bank as portfolio manager and sector economist for peace and fragility. Previously, he had collaborated with different bi- and multilateral aid organizations in places such as the DR Congo (UNDP), Timor-Leste (World Bank), and Nepal (former DfID), and contributed to the endeavors of think and do tanks in Europe (Chatham House, EU-ISS, swisspeace), North America (USIP), and Africa (IPSS). Apart from forming part of the Next Generation Foresight Practitioners at the School of International Futures, he is also a full member of the Association of Professional Futurists.
