Derrick Abudu

Derrick Abudu is a Senior Research Officer in the International Economic Development Group (IEDG) at ODI. He specialises in research on promoting economic growth through private sector development: analysing firm-level and industrial performance, foreign direct investment, and the efficacy of tax incentives.

Before joining IEDG at ODI, he was a consultant for the World Bank for African countries on private sector development, global value chain integration, and the economic effects of conflict. He was also a visiting research fellow on an International Growth Centre-funded project at the Institute of Statistical, Social and Economic Research, University of Ghana. He also has experience at the Macro Unit of Eswatini’s Ministry of Economic Development and Planning as an economist and assistant revenue officer at the Domestic Tax Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority. Derrick also worked as a teaching assistant at the University of Nottingham, UK, and Nottingham Trent University, UK.

Derrick holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Nottingham, UK, and an MSc from Swansea University, UK.
