Description

The Africa Climate Change Resilience Alliance (ACCRA) is an exciting and ambitious consortium working to improve global understanding of adaptive capacity. Our members are Oxfam GB, Save the Children, CARE, World Vision and the Overseas Development Institute. We have developed an innovative adaptive capacity framework, which we are currently consulting on. We are carrying out research on existing Disaster Risk Reduction, Social Protection and Livelihoods programme interventions in Ethiopia, Uganda and Mozambique.

Our findings will inform influencing and capacity building activities that encourage other actors to adopt approaches to development that enable people to build secure and productive livelihoods despite the challenges caused by the changing climate.

ACCRA invites you to a discussion around adaptive capacity, and the contribution that disaster risk reduction, social protection and livelihoods approaches can make in achieving climate change adaptation. Specific areas of focus will be:

  • ACCRA’s work: our adaptive capacity framework; our research; working with others; feeding in.
  • Disaster Risk Reduction, social protection and livelihoods – links and contributions to adaptive capacity. The challenges we all face, and how to improve synergies between approaches?
