This year, world leaders will agree the new Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) which will shape international development for the next generation. If the goals are ambitious enough, properly financed and monitored, they could eradicate the scourge of global poverty and expand opportunities for many millions worldwide. Success is not guaranteed and will require political leadership backed by financial commitments. 

In July, world leaders will gather for the third UN Financing for Development Conference in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Success in Addis could set us on the financial path to end extreme poverty and inspire confidence that the new global goals, to be agreed in September, can truly deliver their promise to leave no-one behind.

This event explores how Addis should deliver for the world’s poorest people and countries including the policy measures that both donor governments and developing countries need to commit to in order to secure success this year and beyond.
