Carolina will discuss how good practice from Colombia’s fiscal and budget reforms could be translated into lessons for African countries. The discussion will include:

• What factors helped Colombia’s fiscal consolidation and budget reforms succeed?
• Which capabilities of the central finance agencies proved essential?
• Which factors and capabilities are relevant for African countries?
• Are these factors and capabilities being pursued as part of existing reform efforts?
