Amanda has over 10 years of experience in refugee law and policy. She is a qualified solicitor and moved into research having practiced law for 5 years. Her research focuses on the human rights of refugees and migrants, including EU asylum and migration law and policy as well as global research which explores the intersections of forced displacement into and within urban areas and the rights of refugees.

Amanda previously worked for the UN Refugee Agency, International Rescue Committee and as an Associate Fellow in the International Law Programme at Chatham House where she conducted research exploring law and policy in relation to refugees and asylum-seekers in the UK, Jordan, Lebanon, Greece, Turkey and Ethiopia.

Amanda’s research has been published in the Journal of Refugee Studies and numerous policy outlets, including ODI and Chatham House. She has presented her work at the University of Oxford, Queens University Belfast, and the University of Ulster. Alongside her work for ODI, she is studying for a fully funded Arts and Humanities Research Council doctorate at Queens University Belfast, which explores the right to work for refugees under international human rights law.
