Understanding malnutrition and health choices at the community level in Sierra Leone

Research reports

Written by Richard Mallett, Lisa Denney

Sierra Leone is home to one of the world’s most malnourished populations. Every year, malnutrition claims more than half of the deaths of all children under five. In 2010, a nationwide survey found that almost 330,000 children under the age of five were stunted. As part of a two year study, SLRC have been looking into the links between state capacity and malnutrition in Sierra Leone and have just produced a report which unpicks the social causes contributing to malnutrition.
