The IMF and the developing countries: Evolving relations, use of resources and the debate over conditionality

Working papers

The paper is divided into three main sections. The first examines relations between the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the developing countries from an historical perspective. The second describes and analyses the use of Fund resources by developing countries (LDCs), while the third presents the various arguments which have been raised concerning conditionality. The paper concentrates on relations between the IMF and LDCs through the operation of the General Account and ignores the Special Account.
