The Indonesian Knowledge Sector Initiative is investigating how to build better evidence-informed policy at a local and national level. This Story of Change describes how establishing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between communities and health service
providers in Lombok Barat in 2006 has helped to re-establish trust between citizens and providers. Facilitated by the Health Office
in the regency of Lombok Barat and a network of local civil society organisations called JMS, the discussion and sharing that has occurred
have contributed to improvements in the quality of services provided by the health centres, accountability of health centre staff and inform
the decisions taken by both the centres and district health agencies. The story describes how these improvements came about.

This study was produced through cooperation between the Australian Community Development and Civil Society Strengthening Scheme (ACCESS) and Knowledge Sector Initiative (KSI) with the support of the Australian Department of Foreign Affair and Trade.
