Briefing/policy paper

Written by Sheila Page

Briefing/policy paper

This paper is part of a collection summarising assessments of the principal issues of the WTO round, how the outcome might affect poverty, the progress of the negotiations, and the impact on four very different countries. This paper looks at what developing countries want from the Doha negotiations and the prominence of these concerns in the framework for negotiation. There is a brief overview of all the most pertinant area of debate namely subsidies, non-agricultural market access, intellectual property, services and trade facilitation. It assesses the potential effects on the Least Developed Countries that changes in these areas could make.
