This report summarises the research from Phase Two of the ODI project Informing the future of Japan's ODA and focuses on Japan's ODA to Africa and lessons for more effective engagement in the future.
Set within a broader review of the donor landscape, this report reviews Japan's model in Africa, comparing its engagement in Africa with its engagement in Asia. Although initially smaller in scale than its engagement in Asia, Japan has committed to double its aid to Africa.
