This book chapter looks at the successes and failiures of General Budget Support (GBS) in Tanzania. It looks at a variety of impacts GBS has had on, for example, budget structure, empowerment of government to pursue its policies and democratic accountability while also assessing the broader economic impact at the macro-level. It suggests some broader lessons that can be learnt from the Tanzanian experience.
