Sonia Hoque is a consultant Programme & Operations Manager, currently working on the Advancing Learning in Gender Norms (ALIGN) platform within the Gender Equality and Social Inclusion programme at ODI. As well as overseeing and managing day-to-day activities, she supports external strategic partnerships and fundraising for the project. She is the Director of OrenDev Consulting, which specialises in providing flexible management support for the design, planning, delivery, budgeting and reporting of all research and communications outputs for multi-year programmes.

Sonia is an experienced Programme & Operations Manager / Researcher with varied experience across donor organisations, foundations, NGOs and the private sector. She previously managed a research platform at ODI for 3 years on supporting economic transformation, for which she conducted research around skills gaps and the importance of supporting women to access formal jobs. She has a keen interest in the norms affecting women in the workplace and economic empowerment.

She established her company OrenDev Consulting in 2019 and, prior to working at ODI, worked in the PwC Consulting International Development team. Other experience includes working for the United Nations Department for Economic & Social Affairs (DESA), various NGOs in the UK, Thailand and the Netherlands and in financial services.

Sonia holds a BSc in Economics from SOAS, University of London, an MSc in International Development from the University of Amsterdam and is a qualified Prince 2 Practitioner.
