<p>Nella's work focused on climate finance at the national level in developing countries. Nella's research interests include climate finance for adaptation purposes as well as adaptation policy and practice in Latin America, particularly in Andean countries.</p>
Nella Canales has experience as a development practitioner both with national and civil society organisations. Nella has a background in economics and recently completed a Masters in Climate Change and Development at the Institute of Development Studies (IDS) and the University of Sussex. Prior to joining ODI, Nella worked for CARE Peru as a Climate Change and Policy Advisor. During her time in CARE, Nella was responsible for giving technical assistance on adaptation into the organisation's programming and led CARE Peru's climate change strategy. Nella also worked with Peru's National Environmental Fund (FONAM), as an Environmental Economist, with Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) projects.
