Maren Duvendack

Maren is currently a Research Fellow in the RAPID group. She has an interest in rigorous impact evaluations, microfinance, replication and applied micro-econometrics.

Maren Duvendack is a development economist with expertise in quantitative impact evaluation methodologies and applied econometrics. Maren’s PhD thesis focused on impact evaluation methodologies in the context of microfinance in India and Bangladesh. Further research interests include the replication and reproduction of quantitative analyses, research ethics and the links between microfinance, empowerment and reproductive health.


Before joining ODI as a Research Fellow in the RAPID team, she was a Postdoctoral Fellow at the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) in Washington DC working on the impact of agricultural research on policies.


Maren has recently completed a comprehensive systematic review on microfinance impact for DFID and is currently working on impact evaluation related topics for the UN World Food Programme and AusAid.

Maren is also co-directing the short course on “Impact Evaluation for Evidence-Based Policy in Development” at the School of International Development at the University of East Anglia.
