Ilayda Nijhar is a political risk practitioner and researcher on Russia, Turkey and the Former Soviet Union (FSU). Ilayda enjoys a focus on the energy sector in the Caspian and Central Asia regions as well as monitoring broader geopolitical trends across the FSU and MENA regions.
She holds a master's degree in Russian and Post-Soviet Politics from SSEES, UCL with a focus on Russian-Turkish power politics in the Black Sea.
Previously, Ilayda was a Eurasia Analyst at a political risk consultancy where she was responsible for a portfolio of assignments including advising clients on energy security challenges and the energy transition. She has also worked as a Threat Intelligence Analyst and has professional experience in Brussels, Istanbul, and London.
Ilayda is a native English and Turkish speaker with professional proficiency in Russian.
