Ian Langdown is a Research Associate working for the ODI’s Water Policy Programme. Ian holds an MSc in Environment and Sustainable Development (Distinction) from the University College London (UCL) and a first-class degree in Civil Engineering; he is also a Chartered Civil Engineer with the Institute of Civil Engineering.

Before joining ODI, Ian worked for an engineering consultancy and as a research assistant with the Development Planning Unit at UCL. Ian’s experience includes policy-orientated research on community level urban resilience, ecosystem based adaptation to climate change and urban water and sanitation provision. He also has experience in community led data collection and mapping, GIS and household survey design and implementation.
