Development and Public Finance

Portrait of Cathal Long

Cathal specialises in public finance reforms in low income and fragile states. His research is particularly focused on domestic resource mobilisation and social sector spending. He also works on technical assistance programs in Uganda and South Sudan through the Budget Strengthening Initiative.

Cathal was an ODI Fellow in the Ministry of Economic Planning and Development in Swaziland, and previously worked in public sector consultancy.

He holds a Master’s in Economics from University College Dublin and is a member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA).
