Caterina is a Research Officer on migration in the Equity and Social Policy team.

Caterina currently works on several projects on migration and development, such as the GCRF UKRI and Irish Aid-funded MIDEQ – Migration for Development and Equality and the European Commission-funded MIGNEX – Aligning Migration Management and the Migration-Development Nexus. Her research focuses on migration policies, the links between migration and development, migration decision-making, social protection for migrants and in contexts of displacement, and the analysis of social protection programmes and policies.

Prior to joining ODI, Caterina worked in academia and as an independent consultant for several NGOs and IOs. She conducted her post-doc at the Queen Mary University of London between 2019 and 2021. In 2019, she completed her PhD in Migration Studies at the University of Sussex, with a research on public narratives of receptiveness toward migrants and ethnic minorities in the cities of Brighton, UK and Bologna, Italy. She has published several journal articles, book chapters, blog posts, and reports on various topics in the field of migration.
