Brian D'Silva is currently Senior Advisor on Aid Policy with BSI's South Sudan programme. Brian has more than 35 years of experience in development work in sub-Saharan Africa. He has taught at Ahmadu Bello University in Zaria, Nigeria and was a Ford Foundation visiting Professor at the University of Khartoum. In addition he has worked with USAID, both in Washington and in field missions in Sudan as well as the regional Mission for East and Southern Africa in Nairobi.

Brian D'Silva is currently Senior Advisor on Aid Policy with BSI's South Sudan programme. Brian has more than 35 years of experience in development work in sub-Saharan Africa. He has taught at Ahmadu Bello University in Zaria, Nigeria and was a Ford Foundation visiting Professor at the University of Khartoum. In addition he has worked with USAID, both in Washington and in field missions in Sudan as well as the regional Mission for East and Southern Africa in Nairobi. As part of USAID's Sudan task force he was also part of the US Government team to the Naivasha peace talks that led to the Comprehensive Peace Agreement. He was instrumental in the design and implementation of USAID's development assistance program for South Sudan in the transition from a subregional entity to an independent nation State. Brian retired from the US government after nearly 32 years of service prior to his joining BSI-ODI in April 2012. He has also published extensively and spoken publicly on issues related to war and peace in Sudan and South Sudan. ​
