Incoming IMF Managing Director must prioritise governance reforms

The incoming Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Dominique Strauss-Kahn, who starts in his new post tomorrow (1 November, 2007), must prioritise institutional governance reforms above all other tasks if global vulnerability to future financial crises and increasing accusations of institutional irrelevance are to be avoided, Dr Lauren Phillips, Research Fellow at the Overseas Development Institute (ODI) in London writes today.
