This meeting will analyse the role of trade in promoting growth. Trade is widely recognised as an important source of growth, however engaging in international trade is challenging for many developing countries. Ha-Joon Chang from the University of Cambridge and Alan Beattie from the FT will attempt to answer questions such as: is trade liberalisation always beneficial? To what extent does fair trade help? And should donors be doing more to promote developing countries' capacity to trade.
