Chair:

Description
Sudan is at a crossroad: following the referendum on self-determination in Southern Sudan the country will shortly witness one of the first partitions of an African state since the colonial era.
Speakers will discuss how regional efforts, the engagement of the Troika (US, UK and Norway) and the two leaders on each side, Vice President Ali Osman Taha and late Chairman of the SPLM/A Dr John Garang worked together in ending the longest civil war in Africa and will provide possible scenarios on the future of the two Sudans.
This event will launch the book Waging Peace in Sudan: Past, Present and Future (Sussex Academic Press).
