Erin Coyle (PRSP Monitoring and Synthesis Project, ODI) gave presentations on origins of PRSs and experience to date both globally and in transition countries. Alison Scott (DFID) gave a presentation on institutionalising the PRSP process.   These presentations will be available on inSight.

Discussion amongst DFID staff centred on:

§    The question of whether DFID wants to support the PRS process or PRS principles.

§    The possibilities for institutionalising the PRS process given current experience and the challenges of fostering greater (national) ownership. 

§    The challenges of generating a results-oriented approach under the legacy of the Soviet system and in a poor data environment.

§    The need for concrete ways forward on a young and poorly-established donor coordination agenda. 

§    Importantly, the need for establishing strong, operationally-relevant links between the PRS process and the SAA process.
