The key issues around which we propose to structure this facilitated discussion include:

• What do we mean by “readiness” for climate finance, and what are the strengths and limits of the concept of support for readiness activities?
• How are countries beginning to prepare to access climate finance from a diversity of sources, and what are their key needs for readiness finance and support activities?
• How can we foster greater synergy and learning from collective efforts to invest in readiness?

The discussion will build on the outcomes of an informal technical meeting convened by ODI and the Africa Climate Finance hub in October 2012 to understand the conceptual and practical implications of readiness finance.
