This workshop was designed to help lay the groundwork for the ODI Japan G8 Global project. Beyond a presentation introducing ODI/RAPID and the ebpdn as well as the Japanese approach to development and a background on the G8, the main aims of the workshop were to:

1. Agree on two or three policy areas on which to focus to influence G8 Japan outcomes
2. Develop amethodology for gathering and synthesizing research-based evidence.
3. Develop a communication and lobbying strategy
