This event aims to draw on expertise from across the continent to explore and elucidate well-developed lessons for policy and practice on what kinds of social accountability actions and actors significantly contribute to the emergence and growth of inclusive, transparent and accountable developmental states in Africa.

The event will focus on finding answers to the following questions:

• What does evidence tell us about the kinds of development outcomes that social accountability initiatives deliver in Africa?
• What kinds of interlocutor actions tend to bring about developmental transformations?
• How can we promote these interlocutor actions in different country contexts?

By the end of the event participants will have identified and defined solid entry points for supporting direct citizen engagement in public policy processes and how to scale them up in a meaningful and high impact way on the continent. It is hoped that this will be useful for their work and for knowledge generation on social accountability.
