Description

This year’s High Level Political Forum is the first opportunity since the SDGs were adopted to build strong political support around the globe for accelerating their implementation.

Early action to deliver on the world’s commitment to leave no one behind is urgent. In fact, if action is not taken in the first 1000 days of the SDGs, it is likely that this essential ambition to ensure that progress reaches everyone will fail.

ODI, the Government of Kenya and the Government of the Netherlands convene this side event on early action to leave no one behind during the ministerial segment of the High Level Political Forum.

The event brings together ministers and other stakeholders from around the world who are prepared to show a public commitment to leave no marginalised community or group behind as part of their SDG implementation strategies. Governments that join this coalition are given a platform to present concrete commitments and share examples of how they are reaching those most at risk of being left behind. ODI presents its flagship report on leaving no one behind, which quantifies the benefits of early action and presents ideas of what this could look like in practice.

ODI also co-hosted a discussion on 15 July, exploring the importance of regional collaboration on the Sustainable Development Goals. Find out more.
