Description

This spring, two devastating earthquakes struck Nepal, killing over 8,600 people and leaving at least two million Nepalis homeless. Did years of disaster risk reduction (DRR) efforts prevent further loss and destruction? And can using DRR concepts help rebuild Nepal to better withstand future disasters?

Through the lens of the Nepal earthquakes, this event will launch the revised Good Practice Review 9 on Disaster Risk Reduction, a guide for humanitarian and development practitioners.

With panels in both London and Kathmandu, speakers will examine not only the immediate response to the 2015 earthquakes but also long-term issues of preparedness, conflict and governance.

Refreshments will be available from 12:30.
