Africa in Global Economic Governance: Nigerian and South African Perspectives

Time (GMT +00) 09:30 12:00

The South African Institute of International Affairs (SAIIA) is collaborating with the Centre for the Study of the Economies of Africa (CSEA) and the Overseas Development Institute (ODI) to host this event that will explore Africa’s involvement in global economic governance. The event will focus in particular on Nigeria and South Africa’s engagement with global economic governance institutions, such as the G20, World Trade Organisation and BRICS, as well as Nigeria-South Africa relations in these contexts.

South Africa is the only African country that is a member of both the G20 and BRICS. This always raises issues of African interests and how well they are represented within these groupings, especially as the G20 still remains one of the most influential global forums for economic policy coordination, while the BRICS seems to be increasing both in global relevance and its African footprint.

The event is a closed event with limited spaces. To confirm your participation, please contact Mobolaji Oyeniji ([email protected] ) by email (please include Africa and Global Economic Governance SAIIA/CSAE/ODI workshop in the email subject) at your earliest convenience.
