Review of Social Protection in the Pacific
ODI has been commissioned to produce two thematic reports on social protection in the Pacific, which will feed into AusAIDs Review of Social Protection in the Pacific.
Thematic paper 3 titled 'Inequality, social cohesion and nation-building in the Pacific: The role of social protection' will address how poverty, inequality and vulnerability affect social cohesion in Pacfic Island countries with special focus on PNG, the Solomon Islands and Fiji and the resultant impact on nation-building. It will also address the potenial role of social protection instruments in strenghening social cohesion and supporting nation-building projects.
Thematic paper 4 titled 'Social protection and gender a life-cycle approach' will address how a range of social protection mechanisms access through a life-cycle could improve gender equality in the Pacific and empower women.
