Prospecting policy issues for the Nepal Centre for Inclusive Growth

Looking at the interface between knowledge, policy and power, this research project will primarily focus on scoping possible issues for the Nepal Centre for Inclusive Growth (CIG) to address.

The CIG identifies practical solutions aimed at facilitating Nepal's economic growth and promoting social inclusion. The CIG works through supporting domestic individuals and organisations to take key actions necessary to address constraints to inclusive growth, delivering that support through carrying out research, brokering expertise, and assisting with communication and institutional strengthening. RAPID has been working with the CIG to help identify policy issues for the centre to address.

Looking at the interface between knowledge, policy and power we have assessed the prospects for CIG engagement on 4 policy issues: tourism, road construction, labour migration and remittances, and petroleum imports. The project will assess potential entry points for CIG work, and the most effective ways that CIG can employ its knowledge-based modalities to affect change.

Upcoming work with the CIG will include further prospecting of potential issues for engagement, and managing a CIG policy project on tourism.
