This exercise aimed to synthesise information from exisiting print and web sources, ODI staff and personal contacts into a comprehensive data base of a) CSOs involved in using research-based evidence to promote pro-poor policies and b) organisations supporting them. This turned out to be an impossible task because much of the data was not comparable, and was replaces with the more realistic objective of developing a "knowledge-base" of organisations of which someone in ODI has 1st hand knowledge.
