Linking local women producers with global markets
This study looked at Best Practices in Linking Local Producers with Global Markets, with six commissioned case studies from Commonwealth countries: cocoa in Ghana; virgin coconut oil in Samoa; cashew nuts in Mozambique; deciduous fruits in South Africa; garments in Bangladesh; and call centres in India. These are followed by an analysis and recommendations for policy makers in the Commonwealth and were prepared in time for the Finance Ministers meeting in September 2004. The introduction looked at the strategies for linking local producers with global markets - the opportunities and constraints, etc. Sheila Page provides the trade policy context for the book entitled 'Chains of fortune - linking women producers and workers with global markets', published by the Commonwealth Secretariat.
