Economic Impact of School Violence

This project's core research questions will seek to ascertain the extent to which school violence affects both human and social capital; to what extent school violence jeopardizes the future of school children; what impact school violence has upon a country’s long term development and economic growth; and finally we will seek to estimate the cost of preventing school violence, with the data available. The project will investigate the cost of preventative measures and analyse these amounts in comparison to the costs of tackling resultant long-term effects (both in terms of a loss of economic productivity and in the necessity for public services like healthcare). A general assessment of the long term effects of violence will be based on secondary sources.
