Climate change investment in the infrastructure sector
Climate change presents a grave threat to human development, and developing countries are particularly vulnerable. Infrastructure will play a key role in facing the challenges, both in terms of mitigation (technological change to reduce resource inputs and emissions per unit of output) and adaptation (measures to reduce vulnerability to climate change effects). The project will explore how climate change-related investment in civil engineering infrastructure can best promote sustainable development outcomes in the developing world, focusing on low-carbon growth paths and adaptation infrastructure investment. EAP will partner with the Overseas Development Institute (ODI), drawing on the two organisations' expertise in infrastructure (EAP) and climate change (ODI) to generate quality research outputs. The project is intended to create a platform for future research, for EAP, ODI and others in the research community.
